Avue’s New Job Site Provides In-Depth Information for Potential Political Appointments and Will Track Status of New Administration’s Progress in Filling Appointed Positions

November 17, 2008

Washington, DC – Avue Technologies, the premier private sector human resources shared service center for the Federal Government, today added a listing of all new Obama Administration job openings to its recently launched Web site www.transitionjobs.us.  The job listings are taken from the Federal “Plum Book,” and include any positions in the new Administration that are considered as “non career” political appointments.

Avue’s ground-breaking new job site was designed specifically to encourage and assist those seeking appointments in the new Administration by providing the most comprehensive information and search capabilities found anywhere.  Transitionjobs.us allows users to search for approximately 7,000 Obama Administration jobs by geographic area and by professional interest area – rather than simply by scanning long lists of positions in each Federal agency.

The 2008 Plum Book reveals that the total number of appointments has dropped by approximately 11.5 percent since 2004.  This administration will fill 11 percent fewer jobs in the major Departments and agencies in the Executive Branch, 13 percent fewer in the Executive Branch independent agencies, and about 3 percent fewer in the Legislative Branch.  The largest drops are in the Departments of State (DOS) and Homeland Security (DHS), with decreases of over 50 percent in DOS and 36 percent in DHS.  Overall, the biggest gains were in the Department of Defense, with the largest in Navy at an increase of about 30 percent, although Air Force took a loss of approximately 30 percent. The Department of Treasury leads the non-military gains with an increase of approximately 15 percent.

In addition to providing this and other helpful information, the site will also track the “fill rate” of Administration jobs, providing the first-ever overview of filled and unfilled Administration jobs, allowing both applicants and other observers to easily monitor the Administration’s progress.  The Avue site is free to the public and contains no advertising of any kind.

Designed as an interactive site, transitionjobs.us has logged over 20,000 unique visitors in the past week alone.  Registered users receive regular email notifications about specific jobs that could be of interest to them.

“The excitement that accompanies a change in Administration seems greater than ever – which will hopefully translate into a renewed interest in public service,” said Linda Rix, Co-CEO of Avue.  “Transitionjobs.us provides a valuable service to anyone interested in working in the new Administration and adds much-needed transparency to a process that has been difficult to track in past years.”

Avue has also pioneered the fastest and easiest Web site for searching and applying for career positions with the Federal government at www.avuecentral.com.  The company remains the only provider of workforce management solutions, public or private, that offers Federal agencies a fully hosted subscription service that lowers costs and dramatically increases government efficiency and agility.
